March 29 No hangover....can't be bad..............As you know, it was our night out last night, it was my friend, Ashleigh's birthday, she's all of 25!!!!!
Haven't had a night out since August, so was well overdue!!!!!!!!!
I was soooo looking forward to it, and as my last few attempts at a night out have been jinxed in one way or another, I was expecting something to come along and put the mockers on this one.............but it didn't..YEY!!!!!!!
I popped to town on Wednesday, to find a new outfit, as you do!!!!
Found a lovely dress, but the shop was heaving, so didn't try it on,
Got home, tried it on, and it was awful!!!!!!! Made me look like a 50 stone heffer!!!!!!!!
Couldn't get back to town until Saturday morning, but managed to take it back, and went on the hunt for something else.........made sure I tried stuff on this time!!!!
Found another lovely dress, in the sale too, so even better!!!
Handbags and glad rags sorted, away we go!!
Was a bit concerned about Soph getting ID'd, especially on a Saturday night, but I told her to just flash her whappers at the bouncers if they stopped her!!!!!!!!!!
Hmmmm.....I think, as a "responsible" mother, I should have said, " You are too young to be going out, dear, stay in and be a good girl".....
Yeah, right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, she got in with no problems, ( and no whapper-flashing needed), and we just avoided places that are known for being strict on ID's.
We had a really good night, and Ashleigh was ratar*ed!!!!!
I stayed sensible, and stuck to Bacardi, so I wasn't too drunk, just comfortably pi**ed, LOL.
In Aruba, they had a big poster, advertising trebles and mixers for £3!!!!!
So I ordered a treble Bacardi, and when she brought it over, she charged me £6.75!!!!! WTF!!!!
Apparantly, only whiskey, gin and vodka was in this deal, and it was in the smallest of small print, right at the bottom of the poster that it said this!!!
Oh well, saved me going back to the bar again!!!!!!
As we queued to get into Flares, Laura and I were getting chatted up by two young "boys", it made me feel really old when they said they were only 18!!!!!!!
They were shocked when I told them that I had a son of 21!!!!!!
Flattered that they didn't think I looked old enough,
Had a good dance when we got in there, and I somehow ended up with a plastic golf club in my hands, which became an essential accessory...........
I had someone doing a bit of Dirty Dancing behind me, so I joined in, as ya do..... and Soph was stood watching me, giving me the disapproving eye, because, as it turned out, it was the 18 year old boy!!!!!!!!!!
Ohhh....that is so wrong!!!!!! I'm old enough to be his mother, ffs........so quick exit.........
Went for the obligitory garlic chips, before getting a taxi home.
Got in at 1.45am, and by the time I had washed my make up off and fell into bed it was 3.10am!!!!! (clocks had just moved forward an hour,
So we had a really good night, and I don't have a hangover, which is a bonus!!
But my feet are so sore, can't do this high-heel malarkey anymore!!!!!!!!
March 23 My Mothers Day.........As I said in my last blog, my Mothers Day was not going to start until Soph had got in from work, so when Leah eventually dragged her butt out of bed, at 12.10pm(
Anyway, about 4.30pm, as I was putting all the ironing away, Leah shouted up to me to say that I had to stay upstairs as Soph was on her way, and they would shout me when I was allowed down!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ten minutes later, they both shouted me, and I walked in to a HUGE bouquet of flowers, as well as a card and some other bits and bobs........
They had also designed some vouchers on the PC and filled in each one with a different thing, ranging from " Half hour head massage", "Soph will wash up every day for a week", "Leah will give manicure and hand massage".....Woohoo!!!!!
AND, Soph had been shopping to buy stuff for tea, and between them both, they made chicken tikka with boiled rice and naan bread,, followed by a strawberry cheesecake, washed down with a lovely glass of wine...Yummy!!
So my wonderful kids have spoiled me yet again, and I am sooo looking forward to redeeming my vouchers!!!!
Just wish that Dan had been here, too, but I had plenty of texts off him throughout the day....
My flowers and the card that was with them..................
My lovley card............
Who...me??????
Vouchers to be redeemed.............
Class............proper "Mum's" film.......
Bits for a lovley soak in the bath..............
My yummy tea.......
Rocky wanting his share....sorry, pup, it's all gone...!!!! March 22 Happy Mothers Day......Up to now, I am on my own on this Mothers day........
Soph is at work until 4pm, and lazy-ar*e Leah is still in bed!!!!!!!!!
I did get a text from Dan at 7.30 this morning, which was nice........
So my mothers day will not start until Soph gets home...
Not sure what they have planned, though, as I have had my orders to make sure that I don't have any chores or anything to do, as they both need my full and undivided attention.......
So, best shift my backside now, and get all my ironing done so I can enjoy my evening of surprises......
Just a little mention of Jade Goody.. a sad loss of a young woman that has made such an impact on people, one way or the other....
RIP Jade, x March 19 Mission accomplished.........Yesterday was our day out to Liverpool, to take Jordan to the Uni open day, and, remember in my last blog, when I said that you just know it will be eventful?
Well, actually, it wasn't too bad apart from when I had to ring the Uni first thing, to get a definate address for where we needed to be, as I had 3 different postcodes!!!
Anyway, the switchboard didn't open until 8.30am, so I had my shot of caffeine as Soph and Jordan were getting ready, and I was making sure I had everything: satnav, road atlas etc...
I managed to get through to the Uni at 8.40 am, and spoke to a lovely lady called Layla, who explained that there was no parking on campus, but she said that there was a multi-story car park not too far away, so she gave me the post code of the campus, (which, again was a totally different one to the three that I had already...
Ermmm, NO, she says, registration is 10.45am!!!!!
It was now 8.45, and considering it takes two and a half hours, at least, to get to Liverpool from here, there was no way that I would be there on time!!!!!!!
She said that Jordan should have received a timetable and a map, clearly showing what time it starts and how to get there.....She said that she thought we were cutting it a bit fine!!!!!!
She told me not to worry, and she would let people know that we were going to be late, and she gave me her mobile number, so that I could call her when we got there, and let us know where we needed to be......
Major panic now............
"JORDAN!!!!, I am going to kick your ar*e....!!!"
Poor Jordan looked terrified.....
Anyway, after telling him what I had just been told, he said that he never received any information at all, and he did think that it was a bit strange not to have heard back!!!!!!!
This, says I, was the time that you should have used your head and rang the Uni to chase it up instead of leaving it...........
Bloody teenagers.............
So we jump into the car, and I put the postcode into the satnav.........postcode not recognised!!!!!!!
Tried again....nope!!!!
I rang Layla again and she said she couldn't understand, so after trying several different ones, she just said to go to the one that it did accept, and she gave me directions to the car park from there!!!
By the time we actually set off, it was 9.30am and my head was banging from all the stress already!!!!!!!
I was fine once we got going, and it was quite a nice journey, though we did hit some really bad fog on the M62, but there were no traffic jams or anything.
Soph started taking random photos as we were driving......her and Jordan were a bit bored!!!
Anyway, we managed to get to Liverpool by 11.50am, which I think was pretty good going, and I found the car park with no problem at all, so I rang Layla, and she gave us directions to the campus from there, and she met us at one of the buildings and took us to where everyone else was.
I must say, that without the help of Layla, then I think that we would have been totally lost and we wouldn't have got there so quickly, she was brilliant,
After a tour of the Uni, and lunch, then listening to a talk about what to expect, etc, etc, we were done by 3pm, so we decided to make the most of the beautiful day, and walk into the city for a look around.
Now then, I had a mission to complete.........
I had to get a picture of me by the Liver Building, so we headed to Albert Dock, and TA-DAAAA......
Mission accomplished, Andy.........
After a good walk around, we headed back to the car, and we got home at 9pm.
We had a lovely day, but we were knackered!!!!!!!
Now Jordan just has to have a good think about whether or not he wants to go tho that Uni.......
March 17 Here we go again.............Yet another long journey tomorrow,
Soph's boyfriend, Jordan, has been offered a place at The University of Liverpool, so, tomorrow is an open day, and me being the kind-hearted soul that I am,( or should that be total fool??
Of course, this means a LONG journey, and, as you have come to know by now, me and long journeys don't exactly run smoothly....
I am going in Dan's car, as I know that the cigarette lighter works in there for the Satnav, but it needed a tyre sorting, so had to go and get that done today.(luckily, I have a very good friend working at Kwikfit, so it didn't cost me a single penny..
As a precaution, I am also taking my road atlas, and I have done a route planner and printed out the directions...
However, the directions are not so simple....
I have 3 different postcodes............
"So which address do we have to be at?"
"Err.....dunno....!!!!"
Bloody teenagers only giving me part information........
Need to get on the phone first thing, to find out exactly where we need to be,
Ya just know it's gonna be an eventful day tomorrow.............
Watch this space........ March 04 Another silver lining........Things are just getting better and better for Dan since the pear business has been resolved....
Had another text from him last night, saying that he has been nominated for Junior Corporal, along with two other lads!!!
He had is weekly review yesterday, and he was told that from day one, they have to have shown 100% in everything that they do, and show maximum effort, and also have a bit of authority over the weaker recruits, just to give them a push and help them along the way with the training.
Apparantly, Dan has shown all this, and he has been told that he has what it takes to be an extremely good soldier, and he is one of the top two young recruits!!!!!
OMG!!! I am just fit to burst with pride.............
My little boy has found his place in life, and he is blossoming!!!!!! March 02 Opportunities..........I spoke to Dan on the phone yesterday, and he said that he has been given an amazing opportunity, and he is about to shine!!
Ok, says I, tell me then.........
He has been having a problem with his foot, but because of the "pear" malarky, he hasn't said anything, for fear of being sent home, but as that has all been resolved, he decided he should say something, as he was in quite a bit of pain.
After an x-ray, it turns out that he has stressed metatarsals in one foot, and needs to rest it, so he has been put on the sick until Wednesday, which he wasn't happy about, but at least its getting sorted......
Subsequently, he has been a bit bored,
So on Saturday, he was mooching around, and was looking at his cap badge, that he cannot wear yet, as he hasn't earned the right, and he decided to draw it.
Now art is Dan's natural talent, and he was supposed to get a distinction in his GCSE's, but because he barely went to school,
Anyway, he hasn't done any drawing for such a long time, so he thought he would give it a go.
When he had finished, one of the Corporal's walked past and saw his drawing, and told him to come to the office and bring it with him!!!!!!!
The Corporal asked him if he was a qualified artist, to which Dan replied, "No, sir, I'm just mint at drawing......"
It turns out that the Army are looking to have 4 badges re-designed, and the Corporal said that looking at Dan's drawing, it was excellent, and would he be prepared to have a go at the new designs!!!!!
Of course, Dan said he would.
If his designs are good enough, then they will be used by everyone!!!!
How good will that be??? My son's designs being used by the Army............
The only pressure is, that they have to be done by next week.........but as he is on the sick, he has a bit of time before he comes home this weekend.
So watch this space..................
